Pierburg s.r.o. was founded in 2004 in Ústí nad Labem and thanks to its specialized production plants with auto parts it belongs to the stable suppliers of the automotive industry. With a turnover of over 3 billion crowns, Pierburg has grown to a company with more than 300 employees.

There were several specific demands on the personnel system

A number of years ago, Pierburg already had several specific requirements that the new HR system had to meet. HR manager Pavel Kudlička points out that it was a priority for him to be able to automate two completely different evaluation systems. Another challenge was setting up efficient processes for designing and approving rewards.

Vema was chosen based on the good experience of its sister company

In selecting the HR system, they based it on the good experience of their sister company Kolbenschmidt. Vema was implemented when the payroll department was established in Pierburg. The payroll accountants who were hired had already had experience with Vema themselves, which made everything easier.

Three people run Vema in Pierburg

The main administrators of Vema in Pierburg are currently three employees, each focusing on their own area - HR, payroll and systematisation. With the help of a consultant, each has managed to tailor-make Vema.

"We needed to implement two completely different evaluation systems. One for hourly employees and the other for THP employees," says Mr. Kudlička, admitting that this was also his biggest personal challenge and he was responsible for putting it into operation. Today, the first evaluation system is fully established.

The evaluation forms are tailored to the groups of individual professions. Two years of searching for the most transparent and efficient way of evaluating employees with a tariff salary preceded the system being brought to its current sophisticated form.

The second appraisal system is designed for THP employees, who are divided by the HR manager into another 15 groups, which have individual variable wage assessments. This project is in the implementation phase, but is already showing promise and is saving a lot of time. Mr. Kudlička says that he has learned a lot from these projects and is happy that his ideas have already been implemented thanks to Vema.

Everyone has been relieved of the paperwork

In addition to setting up a transparent evaluation system, Vema has also managed to bring another benefit by automating the proposal and award approval process. The approval round is now fast and saves a lot of time and paperwork, everything can be handled electronically. "This system has really worked well for us," says the HR manager, who also points out that finally no more applications can be lost or misplaced, thus avoiding inconvenience in the company.

Employees can either find their payslip on the Vema portal or it is emailed to them

About a third of all employees have access to the Vema portal, and these are employees who use a computer to do their work. The most numerous group of employees, i.e. production operators, are sent their payslips electronically by e-mail. Both systems are already in place in the company and the employees are satisfied.

The advantage of Vema is that it is an open system whose data can be further exported to company software

A need arose in the company to export data from the HR system to the company system. Such a situation can be tricky, but Pierburg was able to export the data from Vema directly into the SAP system. Managers appreciate that they have access to employee information, with just a few clicks they can get documents they would have had to intricately collect before. They have summary reports at hand that also provide the parent company with a basic and always up-to-date overview.
